Room 2- Preschool

Hi, I am Christina Nakano, the Room 2 Preschool Teacher. I have been teaching with Redondo Unified since 2011 starting out as an Instructional Assistant and working my way up.  I earned my AA at El Camino College and am currently finishing my Bachelor of Arts degree at Pacific Oaks College. John F. Kennedy said “Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.” And I truly believe that each child that leaves my classroom will have something great to add to this world.

I was born and raised in Torrance. I am married and have two amazing children ages 5 and 2. Our house is turning into a mini zoo with our Chihuahua Kobe, Beta fish Bee-Gee, and two California Desert Tortoises Jackie and Robinson. I love spending time at the beach, going to the park and just being with my family. I LOVE Harry Potter, Sloths, Baby Groot, and Thor. When I’m not in the classroom you can find me reading, playing Co-Ed softball or eating.

My name is Janet Alatorre-Torres and I currently work hand in hand with Mrs. Nakano in room 2. I grew up in the south bay and attended local schools, currently still taking college courses to further my education in child development. I am married to an amazing husband for 5 years now and we have a one year old daughter named Isla Rose. I love watching my little one grow and develop. I also have a little white dog named Yoshi that is part of my little family. I have been working with the district of Redondo Beach for over seven years. I truly love working with children especially in the preschool age.
